Here are some of the effective remedies for shoulder pain

For relieving symptoms of shoulder pain such as strains and sprains, use an ice compress. Wrap some ice cubes in a plastic bag or a thin, soft towel and massage gently for about ten minutes. Repeat this every hour until you find relief.
Try to rest the injured area so as to allow it to undergo healing. Take rest for a couple of days. This often proves adequate, which may then be followed up with light exercises for shoulder pain.
Keep affected area elevated. This helps treat shoulder pain as well as relieves the swelling. Try resting the area on soft pillows.
After a week of trying other remedies for mild pain, you can start to use hot compresses for associated pain & swelling. Massage affected area with hot compresses for about ten minutes. Repeat after an hour for positive results.
Over the counter pain medications can also help ease pain & discomfort. If you do not find any relief even after taking your medications, contact your family doctor.
