Drinking milk is a beneficial way of treating tonsillitis. Take a glass of boiled skimmed milk and add a pinch of black pepper powder and a pinch of turmeric powder to the milk. This treatment should be done for five nights in a row to reduce the pain and inflammation.

Chronic tonsillitis can be kept under control by drinking fresh vegetable juices every day. Juices of cucumber, bitter gourd, carrots, beet root and turnip are very effective in preventing tonsillitis. These juices can be had individually or even taken in combination.

Treatment Of Tonsillitis With Banafsha Flowers
Banafsha flowers have been used since olden times to treat infection of the throat. For this treatment you will require 15gms of the flowers and 75ml of fat-free milk. Boil the flowers in the milk for 7-10 minutes. Strain the mixture and drink the milk while it is still hot. You may add a teaspoon of honey to improve the taste of the milk.
Alternatively, you could lightly roast the flowers in a teaspoon of clarified butter, put them in a small clean cloth and wear them around your neck at night before hitting the bed. Do not wrap the flowers too tightly around your neck or may constrict your throat.

Treatment Of Tonsillitis With Fenugreek Seeds
Prepare a gargle of fenugreek seeds to cure severe tonsillitis. The gargle is easy to make; boil a liter of water and add three teaspoons of fenugreek seeds to the boiling water. Steep the seeds in the water for 30-35 minutes and then remove from flame. Allow the water to cool and then strain it. This entire infusion should be finished off in one day. Fenugreek seeds gargle will soothe your throat and provide you relief from pain and swelling.

A simple yet effective way of preventing and treating tonsillitis is to gargle with salt water twice a day. Salt water gargle is an effective way of removing the pus formations around the tonsils. The salt water also cleans the debris in the form of food particles that are settled in the food pipe. This reduces the chances of formation of tonsil stones.

Drink three cups of chamomile tea every day to deal with the pain and swelling caused by the tonsil infection. You may also add a teaspoon of honey and half teaspoon of black pepper powder to the tea. This will help soothe the irritated passage inside the mouth.

  3. Take 300gms of ginger and remove its skin. Grate the ginger or grind it in an electric mixer. Add four teaspoons of honey and one teaspoon of powdered black pepper to the grated ginger. Mix the three ingredients well and heat in the microwave for 15 seconds.
  4. Take two teaspoons of the hot mixture immediately to soothe the throat. Store the rest of the mixture in the refrigerator. Warm the mixture a bit before having it. All the ingredients used in this treatment are beneficial for reducing pain and inflammation caused by the infection of the tonsils.
  5. If you frequently suffer from tonsillitis then you must take precautionary measures to prevent the condition. Tonsillitis is triggered of by eating spicy and oily food. Dishes that are rich in spices and condiments should be avoided altogether. Also avoid intake of sour foods like yoghurt, buttermilk and pickles.
